Yesterday members of the Barbie Fan Club got a glimpse of the new Silkstone Ken – Tuxedo Ken, via a video with Robert Best and his latest creations. As a lot of people have already guessed, this Ken is the same as one created last year as an OOAK for Charity Buzz.
According to DollSociety on Flickr, this year we’ll also be getting some new actress Barbies. Melanie Griffith, Mira Sorvino and Rebecca De Mornay will become Barbie dolls later this year. I’m very curious about their face molds. I hope they’ll create new ones that really resemble closely the actresses.
The rumours were true. Mattel is going to create two Jennifer Lopez Barbies: J. Lo – Jennifer Lopez Red Carpet Barbie (Pink Label ~ X8287) and J. Lo – Jennifer Lopez Barbie (Pink Label ~ Y3357). The dolls will be released this summer and no other details are available right now. I think that one of the dolls will be simmilar to the OOAK doll created for Charity Buzz last year. Here she is:
I hope she’ll have the same fabulous fashions! I’m not very interested in the dolls but I do love those fashions.
As you may have already seen, I love Steffi Love, the German doll made by Simba. Today I discovered their website has been updated with a tone of fashions, dolls, sets and accesories. I love the fact that they use a lot of articulation for their dolls. Kudos to them! Mattel, please take notes.
On my wish list are the jeans dolls, the animal sets, the coffee shop and the Steffi & Evie sets. Absolut adorbs! Check them out below.
In Paris I happened to meet the wonderful Monica Nuñez del Castillo that has the official Barbie fanclub “Coleccionistas de Fashion dolls en Madrid“. She’s a sweet, sweet girl with a huge passion for Barbie and she created, together with her friend Luis Manuel Gomez Pulido, this beautiful OOAK Silkstone that was donated at the silent auction at PFDF 2013. She repainted and enhanced her makeup, did the hair, and Luis created and sew the dress. The amazing pictures were taken by an INCREDIBLE photographer, Jose Rodriguez Ken Mad, that makes the most amazing Barbie pictures ever. I promise I’ll do an interview with him soon.
Right now I’ll let you enjoy the photos and this beautiful Silke. She sold for 300 euros! I wish I had bid on her.
Hi everyone! This is my last night in Paris. I’ll be leaving tomorow in the evening and in the next couple of days I’ll post lots of pictures, stories and videos from PFDF 2013. But right now I really want to share with you some info I got from Linda Kyaw.
Please excuse my tired face…
First of all let me tell you she’s such an amazing and sweet lady. Love her! It kind of saddened me that all the collectors were queing to get an autograph from Robert and almost forgot that this amazing lady and designer was there. Anyway, I got to spend some moments with her and asked her some questions. I can tell you she’s working on a new doll from the Global Glamour series that will come out next spring. Sometimes this fall we’ll get a chance to see the doll. She’s representing a country from…Europe! So excited!!! She also told me that a lot of people from the Barbie board told her to create a DOTW Romania. That was so cool! I told her a few things about my country and promised her that I’ll send her some inspiration photos. Now back the Global Glamour collection, seems that Tribal Beauty was supposed to be articulated but they decided to not go with that body because it didn’t look nice. I insisted that she must really start doing more articulated bodies as that’s what collectors want. She said she had no idea it was such an issue with the collectors. I told her it is one of the BIG issues we all have. She said she’ll take that into consideration. After this we talked about the different face molds and I asked her to use more of the old molds on more high end dolls. She said she’ll think about that as she also didn’t know collectors wanted to see the old face molds that much. I insisted again that she should think about 1. articulation and 2. older and more different face molds.
So there you have it guys! I hope you’ll find this info as interesting as I did and in the coming days I’ll post a video with me talking to Robert Best.
Bisous de Paris!

Hi guys! I just came from the Barbie cruise and here’s this year’s doll. I managed to ask Robert Best and Linda about the King Tut and Neferititi set and they said no such set is going to come out this year. There was a sketch of a King Tut Ken just after the release of the Cleopatra doll but it never went into production. Tomorow I’ll meet them again and ask more questions. Stay tuned and please credit me if you want to use the photos on your blogs and Facebook pages/groups.
