I have learned yesterday that a very sad rumor might be true: starting with next year, the convention dolls from the National Barbie Convention will not be designed by OOAK artist such as Ninimomo, Magia 2000 or Artist Creations but by Mattel designers like it was before. Also all the International Conventions will not get new dolls or new variations of existing dolls like they did in the past, but JUST a variation of the official US Convention Doll from the previous year.
So no more La Belle Epoque Barbie for us. Yes, I do go to conventions for dolls! I go to meet my friends, have a blast and get the convention dolls because I LOVE CONVENTION DOLLS! I don’t want just a variation of the official doll from the US Con. I just think that is really disrespectful to all the collectors that go to international collections. Will this mean that the doll from PFDF will have green eyes, the IDC doll will have let’s say dark hair and the MFDC will have pink shoes?! And that’s it? Just variations with an identical box and nothing more? Well that is just WRONG in my book. Wrong, wrong, wrong! And I fear there’s nothing we can do about it.
Well I still hope this will not happen but… But… *crawling back to bed and sobbing*
