Barbie plans for 2015: new friends, new dolls

October 30, 2014

My friend Muhammed Bagci form is reporting that Mattel has released some info about their new plans for Barbie in 2015. Looks like they plan on rebranding her, giving her more friends and styles and making her more edgy. First they released a new friend called Mochino, the blonde doll with undercut.

Also they released some images of an upcoming Barbie movie that looks very cute.

Love them all, but Mattel, let me just ask you this:

Have you ever thought that instead of hunting the doll bloggers that help keep your brand alive you should actually thank them and help them? Just a thought.

The doll bloggers you like to scare into not writing about your products any more.

It looks like Mattel wants to go head to head with Hasbro again. This Rock n Royals movie is coming out just in time to compete with the Jem and the Holograms movie & dolls!

Doesn’t Mattel know that doll blog readers are the same people buying the play line for their kids?? While they’re over competing with Habro, I’ll be over at integrity toys getting aquatinted with their dolls. ’cause selling/passing of play line dolls on is just… no words no words

Mattel is stalking bloggers/site owners again? It didn’t go so well for them the first time, (many years ago) with massive ill will toward them in general and a number of people who just gave up on collecting.

Love the new faces, but it’s going to be a chore finding enough articulated bodies in the right skintones. At least the current Wal-Mart birthstone dolls might cover some of the pale girls!

It’s really sort of sad that Mattel is stuck in a vacuum.
The dolls and fashions are getting cheaper and cheaper. The quality is abysmal and the bodies are all stiff with no articulation to speak of.
Now they think articulating the feet will give Barbie new life? If they followed trends…articulated bodies are the big thing. I think they see Poppy Parker finally as a success and some ‘brainiac’ seems to think its just her feet that make the difference?
Her entire body is articulated. When are they going to learn…the dolls are throw aways…if a fashion is cute…the BHS dolls (That never look as good as the promos) get tossed into a ‘dead-dolly’ crate and sold at doll shows or donate to goodwill.
They really need someone that is a collector/deboxer and product researcher to run the show, because like all vacuum bags – eventually, they are filled with dust and tossed in the trash!

I love the new face molds and eye colors! It’s great that Mattel is breaking out of the blue eyed mold. However, I wish they would have a wider range of articulated dolls.
