About Me

A three day ban

April 14, 2016

Yes, I got banned from Facebook by Mattel. For 3 days. I can’t post, reply, basically do anything. Why? Because I reposted the image of the Star Trek dolls. An image that was already all over Facebook doll groups and on online shops.

I’m speachless…

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. Banned from Facebook totally, or just the Mattel Facebook page? You’d think only Facebook themselves had the power to ban from Facebook totally.

    • Reply Ada April 14, 2016 at 3:02 pm

Banned from Facebook. It was done at Mattel’s request.

  • Reply Natasa April 14, 2016 at 3:36 pm

I’m so sorry to hear that. This is so shitty of them. They really are terrible in all ways. I love Barbie and I love your blog because it provides us with so much information. I really appreciate all your hard work and dedication and I’m sure I’m not the only one. So sorry you have to deal with this nonsense.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:49 am

      Thank you ! :*

  • Reply Tracy April 14, 2016 at 4:50 pm

I’m sorry that happened…it wasn’t deserved. Mattel needs to fix their issues of getting enough product to vendors and causing problems for people pre-ordering instead of this kind of pettiness. :-/

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:50 am

You have no idea what they make dealers go through… Ugh…

  • Reply Ternessa April 14, 2016 at 5:32 pm

Oh, wow I’m so sorry that happened to you. Mattel needs to step up their quality and worry less about people seeing some “leaks”. Talk about restricting freedom of speech. I’m angry at FB for allowing a company to do that to you. Where will it stop? :(

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:51 am

I have a feeling next time they’ll just close my account. :( And my account is linked to other projects that I have and are not doll related and also it’s linked to pages I work for so this is a big issue for me.

  • Reply Simon April 14, 2016 at 7:24 pm

This is ridiculous! I think an open letter to Mattel on behalf of the doll community about their shocking treatment of the doll community. Not to mention how they can target someone who loves and champions their dolls. As Ternessa says if only they put as much time and energy into quality control!

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:50 am

      I doubt they’ll care. :/

  • Reply Sandra April 14, 2016 at 7:42 pm

Ada: All you do is support Mattel and Barbie products. Your love of the doll is unmatched. I know this isn’t the first time Mattel has done something like this. You do not deserve it. I’m sorry.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:51 am

      Thank you, darling! :*

  • Reply Amy April 14, 2016 at 7:48 pm

Yes!!! We should write a collective letter to Mattel! We should criticize everything we do not like and if they ignore us, I think that we should make a protest and stop buying at least this years dolls, so they would see what it means to appreciate collectors. Not mentioning that playlines still have lesser incomes.
I like this web very much, you are so devoted to collecting dolls, that even this nastiness from Mattel did not make you stop to inform us about them. Thank you

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:52 am

I have done this before and nothing. :(

  • Reply Nicole Gaskill April 14, 2016 at 9:37 pm

What a crock of s**t! They had to put the blame on someone… What B.S.!

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:52 am

      Yeah. On me… :(

  • Reply Christian April 14, 2016 at 10:02 pm

I agree with everyone- they need to spend more time on QM instead of scouring the web for leaked pics-
Pics, by the way , that generate interest in their products = possible sales. No wonder things are looking down…but rest assured that the lack of quality is spreading to their other lines – Monster High, Ever After High and eventually, the DC Superhero girls line….?

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:53 am

I guess they don’t look at this the way we do. They want to control EVERYTHING just like any big company.

  • Reply Kat April 14, 2016 at 10:36 pm

O Ada, I am sorry to hear it. You are promoting their dolls. I don’t get their inverted philosophy.

Three day FB hiatus. We might all benefit from being away for three days. LOL!

Oh well, sending you my love.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:53 am

      Thank you, sweety!!

  • Reply Drake Ramoray April 14, 2016 at 11:49 pm

Don’t understand why Mattel do that to you.
It’s not the First Time and afraid that it Will not be the last…
They really sucks in many ways with their crappy quality Doll and Awfull communication…

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:54 am

Yes, I’m sure this is just the beginning.

  • Reply Terri Gold April 15, 2016 at 12:47 am

There are nasty collectors out there who love to act like the police. I’m guessing one of them reported you.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:55 am

Oh, I know. The famed Mattel police dogs.

  • Reply Ebony B April 15, 2016 at 1:29 am

So Mattel doesn’t want the free advertisement you are doing for them by posting pictures of upcoming dolls? Crazy. It seems this is Mattel’s problem of letting “leaked” pictures get out in the first place, so they shouldn’t take it out on you. I don’t see Integrity Toys dolls getting “leaked” prior to their release. If Mattel is this concerned about images of their products getting out, they need to start doing whatever Integrity Toys does instead of punishing random people for their own mistakes. Or better yet, actually offer official sneaks to paying members on BFC, since that’s what we’re paying for anyway. Stuff like this happens and Mattel is seriously wondering why they are loosing money and the support of collectors.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:55 am

They have a huge issue with these “leaks” and yet they like to blame others for it.

      • Reply Simon April 15, 2016 at 8:02 pm

So strange – do they think you actively “steal” their precious images??? I can just see you – Mission Impossible style – descending from a drop wire in Mattel HQ, dodging the lasers so you can sneak out some random doll pics they have locked up in an alarmed perspex box! Get a life Mattel!!!

  • Reply Monster Crafts April 15, 2016 at 9:24 am

I’m so sorry about that! I agree with people that say that, if pictures are leaked, it’s because of Mattel’s fault. Sometimes they have so many leaks that I’ve seriously considered if they’re doing this on purpose to generate buzz around the new releases. I also agree with the people saying that they should care more about making better quality dolls instead of banning people who have posted an image that wasn’t supposed to be there.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 9:56 am

      I have also wondered that.

  • Reply Linda April 15, 2016 at 9:52 am

That’s so uncool! Just so you know, Queens of Africa dolls would never do that to you. Hang in there!

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 10:54 am

Thank you so much! This means a LOT to me and I’m very serious when I say this.

  • Reply Isabel April 15, 2016 at 10:33 am

I live in a country where many of Mattel’s products are never known. People like me rely on people like you or Simon from DollObservers or Mike N’ Elio who so generously take the time to show and promote their products, so we know them and decide on buying them. Are they crazy? They should even pay you for doing it. They look to me so scared about their decreasing sale numbers that they depend on the expectation and “mistery” surrounding their future releases when in fact they should worry about the poor quality of the product itself. They owe you an apology.

    • Reply Ada April 15, 2016 at 10:57 am

It’s almost the same in Romania. We get so few new dolls. :( I don’t want Mattel to pay me. I just want them to talk to me, respect my work and, maybe, even colaborate with me. I have never asked for anything! ANYTHING! I don’t beg for free dolls or anything. But what they do to me on a regular base is just… Ugh.

  • Reply Andy Sorensen April 15, 2016 at 1:50 pm

What a crock of nonsense! As someone who shared your post on my doll page, you have my complete sympathy.

  • Reply Melissa April 15, 2016 at 2:39 pm

American Girl photos and products leak constantly, all the time, and nothing ever happens. I’m sure AG doesn’t like it, but it creates buzz on our doll boards.

I haven’t bought any Barbie product direct from Mattel since the Boucle beauty fiasco, and I think this has sealed it for me. No more. With the slide in QT for Barbie, it was an easy decision to make. I don’t want to hear a peep of complaint from Mattel about excuses of why sales are so low. Because you guys screwed up and ran the product into the ground and vilified bloggers who advocate for collectors, that’s why.

  • Reply Laura April 15, 2016 at 6:39 pm

This is so ridiculous! I love this blog. I get so much information from it. There are so many dolls I would never know about if it weren’t for this blog. Mattel is foolish! They’re getting free advertisement from you!

Very sorry about the ban on Facebook, im glad i dont do facebook to me its anti social, too much bully on it and too much dobbing ( reporting on it). It is wrong of Mattel to dob/ report on anyone who collects Barbie and its not fair. What Mattel did it puts me off doll collecting and especially Facebook, i think Facebook is as much to blame they carried out Mattel request. Sadly i still like dolls, and i hope this doesn’t put anyone off collecting dolls, dolls been much longer around that them any social media like facebook, and before Barbie was Bild Lilli from Germany, i wish i had a bild lilli doll even a reproduction have no idea if any of them got made. Please dont let mattel and facebook worry you, there is more serious thing’s happening in the world too.

Ada, I am sorry to hear it. It’s just horrible. I don’t understand why they did this. They seem to have a simply incompetent marketing and public relations team! BTW I was sure they allowed these images to leak on purpose. That happens all the time with their images and even some dolls were on ebay prior to their official release. One for sure – they must read your blog and fb page carefully – you have some truly attentive readers in Mattel. LOL !

  • Reply Pabboo Redfeather April 21, 2016 at 1:06 am

The leaks are coming from within mattel!

  • Reply RRR April 21, 2016 at 3:30 am

This is why I only purchase their products on sale mostly. I think the company’s politics are overall terrible towards their fans and they are bullies towards the competition. That being said, I am certain the creators behind it are passionate and doing their best to bring us the best stuff. It’s likely just the management that’s extra strict.

  • Reply mark jackson April 28, 2016 at 8:19 pm

What it is, is the people who buy into that stupid collectors club to own a cheap low # piece of crap that do all the blowing in on those who get sneaks, my thing is Mattel needs to do just like you said and concentrate on quality and for those in the club get out you are being used and abused buy Mattel. If Mattel can make one of a kind dolls with super high quality and face paint they surely can do the same for it’s club members making the doll so unique and personal that the collector can actually appreciate how Mattel goes out of it’s way for it’s special member, but just a different hair color and cheap outfit, not buying that it’s that special.

I agree-I think someone reported you. I do not understand why people do this. Nowadays there re so may 2 faced people out there. And some just love getting people into trouble. I love your blogs.
