This year a new European doll convention will open it’s doors for international collectors. The Portuguese Doll Convention will take place in the amazing Lisbon, on the 18th of April and you can now sign up for it HERE.
The convention is sponsored by Mattel that has also donated the convention dolls. Can’t wait to see them. This year I’ll not be able to attend but next year I’m definetly going. I always wanted to visit Lisbon. Such an amazing city.
The most important party at MFDS 2014 has taken place this evening and the most awaited dolls of the convention were revealed! The convention doll is the beautiful “Fiorella Goes to Madrid” and she has been gently donated by Mattel USA. On her trip to Madrid her lips had changed to a red passion color, she recovered the bag she was sporting at the original Robert Best sketch and she has added to her accessories list a gold and pearl tiara inspired on one of the latest Dolce & Gabbana collections.
Also all the table hosts (I was supposed to e one…) got a stunning Paco Alcaide and Monlew Designs & CreationsOOAK doll called “Dolce Vita Golden Goddess”. Do I need to tell you HOW MUCH I like her? Congrats to all the people that got her. She’s a true beauty.
Today was the first day of MFDS 2014 and the day ended with a great Pink Mod Party that was heald on he rooftop of the stunning Hotel Emperador in Madrid. It was organized by Zsa Zsa Party, Escuela Goymar, Pino Models Agency, Luis Robles and Ismael Make-Up Hair & Style and the atendees were served with some delicious cocktails specially created for the party by Culture Cocktails, with the help of Freixenet and Schweppes. Damn, I’m so sad I wasn’t there.
One of the special gifts given to all attendees was an outfit designed and handmade by Marcelo Jacob. The name of this outfit is Chess Mess and it’s an homage to the 60’s “groovy
outfits”. Mini dress featuring Op-Art print, white stockings, earrings created by Mónica Núñez del Castillo. It fits all kind of Fashion Dolls as you can see in the pictures: Barbie, Poppy Parker or Fashion Royalty are some of the lucky girls that have already tried it.
During the night some contests were held and the prize for them was an OOAK doll designed by Marcelo Jacob and Mónica Núñez del Castillo: Barbie Pink! Mod Party Doll. Two variations, Caucasian and Afro American, for a colorful and amazing MOD doll. Dressed in a mini dress featuring a fabulous print with matching belt, colorful stockings, pink earrings and go-go boots: these two dolls became the most desired item of the party. Aren’t they gorgeous! Congrats to the winner. Can’t wait to see IRL images of them.

The first edition of the Madrid Fashion Doll Show has ended yesterday and now we can’t wait for the 2014 edition to come. I want to take this opportunity to apologize for not being able to come. No one is more sorry than me for not attending but I have several personal reasons that prevented me from coming. I do promise you next time I’ll be there.
Below you’ll find some very nice pictures from the convention that were taken by Lionel Masson and Christelle Baudry plus a clip by Goymar Madrid. Hope you enjoy them.
