We also get to see two of the new dolls, a sketch of the new Silkstone Ken and some illustrations for the much talked about vintage repro giftset.
FYI I’m not joining the club. I will never join until Mattel starts shipping internationally. I think it’s very disrespectful for “foreign” Barbie Collectors to go through so much trouble with double shipping and shipping buddies just to buy some dolls. So no, this lady will not be getting a BFC membership.
Yesterday members of the Barbie Fan Club got a glimpse of the new Silkstone Ken – Tuxedo Ken, via a video with Robert Best and his latest creations. As a lot of people have already guessed, this Ken is the same as one created last year as an OOAK for Charity Buzz.
As I have already announced on Facebook, this year I’ll be going to the Paris Fashion Doll Festival. I’m so excited! It’s one of the 2 great doll festivals in Europe and I adore their convention dolls. I’ve just found out that this year I’ll have a chance to meet Robert Best again and also Linda Kyaw will be present.
So if you want me to ask them any question please feel free to write them here, in a comment. I’ll be live blogging from the convention so be sure to bookmark this site and check back here for lots of info and pictures.
In May, while attending the Italian Doll Convention 2012, Robert Best presented this amazing video Behind the Scenes of the Atelier: The 2012 Barbie® Fashion Model Collection that now is available on the BFC YouTube account. An amazing and touching video that you must watch.
When Robert Bestgave his speach at IDC 2012 he told us about the new Silkstone Elizabath Taylor dolls that will come out later this year. Images of the new dolls have just been sneak peaked and they are called Violet Eyes Barbie and White Diamonds Barbie.
They use the same face mold aproved by the actress herself and will come out in September. I’m sure they’ll sell out fast so get your pockets ready. I love the fact they come with extra clothes or accesories!
Are you going to buy them? I might get Violet Eyes but I’m not sure….
Thank you for being patient. I wasn’t able to do any live blogging from the convention but tonight I’m going to post a very looooooooooong article about everything that happened at the Italian Doll Convention 2012 plus tons of news of new 2013 Robert Best creations!
Until then this is the convention doll. Real pictures and comparison with the original doll coming soon!
Because IDC 2012 is just around the corner, the organizers just previewed a very special doll, created by Robert Best, for the eBay auction that will start in a few days. She’s a brunette version of the Tribute Barbie released in 2010. I know there are a lot of collectors out there that love these special editions of already released dolls so I bet she’ll sell for a very good price.
